The Municipality of Dobrepolje lies in the area of two connected karst valleys – the Dobrepolje and the Struge Valleys. The cultural and administrative centre is located in Videm, where one also finds the mighty Jaklič’s home. The municipality has a rich natural and cultural heritage, including the Podpeška Cave with a proteus, golden Baroque altars in the Church of St. Florian in Ponikve as well as the vivid testifying monuments of the artists France and Tone Kralj. The winter is banished by the colorful Shrovetide figures from Ponikve and the Zagorica “mačkare” (Shrovetide custom).
